With all of the flashy trailers that are surrounding "cars of the future", people have been throwing in their own opinions as to what they would like inside of their car. Over at ArtCenter College of Design in Los Angeles, 14 students worked on creating new concepts for future vehicle interiors. They selected many participants from various background to provide ideas and share their own thoughts on futuristic cars.

The idea that stood out to me the most was the use of augmented reality. Basically, you would see out of the windows of your car just like normal. The windows would display information based on what's around you. Perhaps you drive by a restaurant and you're a little hungry, the AR windows would show you reviews of the joint. If you're passing a significant landmark, facts and statistics would be provided to give passengers a little more information. Then, things took a turn for the worse.

Building off of the augmented reality concept, people thought it would be really cool to have virtual weapons inside the car. You could, for example, fire a rocket launcher at a building and watch it explode, catch fire, and crumble. Aside from the fact that the concept would be nearly impossible to create, it probably wouldn't be considered a "family friendly" feature. I think AR in cars would be awesome, but I just don't think it's something that will be here any time soon.
