Today started as a pretty normal day. I woke up, had some coffee, and sat down to start on writing the news. This perfectly normal morning in no way prepared me for Elon Musk's latest strange activity: An electronic dance music track.

That's right, folks. Tesla CEO and automotive wizard Elon Musk has released an EDM song.

It began Thursday evening when he revealed on Twitter that he was making a song called "Don't Doubt Your Vibe." A few hours later he stated that it would be released by Emo G Records. I assumed this was a joke of some kind. Around 2 AM Friday morning, Musk released a link to Soundcloud, a popular music hosting site, that led to his original song. Not too much later, Musk posted a handful of pictures of him in a professional music production studio, working out his tune.

To help draw hype for this track, Musk also changed his Twitter handle to E ā€œDā€ M, a clever combination of his initials and the name of the genre.

To be frank, it's a pretty basic track, nothing very impressive. It's better than some garage techno track, but how much of that was due to the powerful and expensive resources he has access to?

Elon Musk is a strange one. He certainly knows how to draw media attention, at least. As long as Tesla vehicles continue to drive forward a new age of high-quality electric cars, then he can do whatever he wants, for all I care.
