Breaking Records

COTA lap records have been set by this electric concept car, both with and without the driver. This supercar isn't just a beauty, it's more than just it's looks. It features 1360 hp and 4671 lb-ft of torque

It's lap time was 2:40 without a driver, making it the fastest autonomous car to drive the circuit. With a human, it was 2:11, at a speed of 170 mph, quicker than any car at COTA.

Notice how the driver took longer. Humans, man.

Specs

The Nio EP9 features FIA LMP1 specs, an electric motor at each wheel, and carbon fiber monocoque. In other words, it's precision torque that adjusts in real time. Altogether, the four motors add up to 1360 horsepower and 4671 lb-ft. of torque.

The odd part is that the NIO brand behind this car, is created by Chinese startup NextEV, which just popped up last year. And already, this is happening.

We have to step up, America. We can do this.
