Speedster fans rejoice; the Porsche 911 Speedster not only will be entering production in 2019, but it'll be bringing an open top option with it.

The sports car was revealed as another Speedster concept during the 2018 Paris auto show. Alongside it came details regarding the vehicle's production plans. According to Porsche, exactly 1,948 examples will be produced, referencing the original Porsche 356 from the year 1948. The Speedster variant of the vehicle didn't release until 1955, but we won't gripe.

The vehicle runs with a 911 GT3 chassis sporting 21-inch wheels akin to those found on the GT3 R race cars. The body is based on the 911 Carrera 4 Cabriolet. The concept model came with a 4.0-liter flat-six engine pushing 500 horsepower through a manual six-speed transmission. According to the automaker, this will be the first car to be offered with their new Heritage Design package.

Carbon fiber is present in the fenders, while the tailpipes feature titanium. The window frames have been shortened, as well. While an open top, the Speedster is not a drop top. Instead, the vehicle comes with a Tonneau cover attached to Tenax buttons. So if you want to keep the black leather interior dry, you best check the weather before going out. the Speedster's Guards Red paint is a throwback to the 1988 911 Speedster.
