Building your own time machine can be difficult. But Lego can at least help emulate the idea. The popular block building company has officially produced a new Creator Set based on one of the most iconic vehicles of the last 100 years: The 1984 DMC DeLorean from the Back to the Future films.

Not just one film, either. The set allows the user to recreate the vehicle from all three of the movies. Dubbed the “time machine” to avoid automaker brand naming, this Lego kit recreates the high-tech hovercar, complete with functional gullwing doors. Consisting of 1,872 pieces, the kit supports the creation of the original car, the hovering variety from Back to the Future 2, or the modified design of the third film. No matter the film iteration, the “time machine” features an opening frunk, opening gullwing doors, and a messy interior, complete with Flux Capacitor. The kit also includes mini figures based on Doc and Marty with outfits based on the second movie. They each come with one prop, too. Marty gets a hover board while Doc gets a case of plutonium.

It’s not full car sized, but it’s not small by Lego standards, either. The completed models measure at around 15.5 inches long and 7.5 inches wide. And that girth is reflected in the price tag, it seems. The full kit is marked at $169.99. There’s only enough pieces to create a single vehicle, which is modified to suit the style of each film. So if you want to display all three cars at the same time, it’ll cost a heavy $510.

You won't have to wait long to buy one, at least. The Back to the Future Time Machine kit goes on sale on April 1, 2022. We hope the date is a coincidence and this isn't an April Fools' Day joke.
