There’s something special about older cars. Their style, design, and technology are beautiful hallmarks of a fascinating time in automotive history. A perfect example of this is the Jaguar C-Type is now. That particular classic car is now 70 years old. And to celebrate the event, Jaguar Land Rover is producing eight more of them.

The C-Type was one of Jaguar’s rarer models. Produced for only two years in 1951-1953, it was one of the more impressive performance vehicles of its time. It even won Le Mans twice during that time. Not very many of them were produced either. Only 53 original models were made.

Until now, we suppose. The Jaguar Land Rover Classic department will be producing exactly eight continuation models of the original C-Type. They will be based specifically on the Le Mans winning model, which features disc brakes. And despite the age, it’ll have some noteworthy performance. A 3.4-liter inline-6 with triple Weber 40DCO3 carburetors under the hood means it can push about 220 horsepower. Some new aspects, like a FIA approved harness, have also been added to adhere to modern safety standards.

Production will be more than just the end product. Jaguar is referencing company archives (and even an original C-Type) to ensure that the production methods used are as close to the original as possible.

The newly produced models will be delivered some time in 2022. The eight lucky buyers will have their choice of 12 exterior colors and eight interior colors to choose from. Don’t ask the price.

This is only the most recent of numerous continuations handled by the JLR Classic department. Previous examples include the XKSS, D-Type and Lightweight E-Type.
