Performance drivers, do not fret. General Motors has revealed the next Corvette. The automotive brand has released the first teaser for the upcoming 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06.

While the physical form remains a mystery, a new video by Chevy gives us an auditory taste of the vehicle’s powertrain. Others have indicated that it sounds like a flat-plane crank V8 engine. And we’re taking their word for it, since we can’t tell by sound alone.

In fairness, the Corvette C8.R also has a 5.5-liter flat-plane crank V8 engine, giving us reason to speculate a similar option will be part of the Z06. That model achieved around 500 hp when using a 6-speed sequential transmission. If the Z06 has the same engine, but is paired with an 8-speed or duel clutch transmission, we could see over 600 hp.

According to some prototype sightings, there’s a belief that the rear tires will reach as big as 345 mm, 40 more than the standard C8 Corvette. We can expect a wide stance as a result.

As for the inside, we saw sketches of the inner cabin teased back in 2019, with carbon fiber surfaces and something on the steering wheel called “Spec Mode.”

We’ll learn a great deal more about the super car come this fall, where it’s expected to make its official debut. Stay tuned.
