With the serious nature of police work, it's important that they have some of the best safety options available to them. GM has helped make officers safe with a new line of safety features for the 2018 Chevy Tahoe Police Pursuit Vehicle.

Now when Police departments order a 2018 Tahoe PPV, they will have the option to choose an Enhanced Driver Assist package. This package offers low-speed forward automatic braking, forward collision alert, and active lane control with lane departure warning. These features all work together to help reduce the event (or damage) of a forward collision. In layman's terms, it helps the driver keep in the lane while alerting the driver should they start to drift out of place. There also is a more advanced driver's seat. The seat will vibrate in the direction of any unseen objects nearby.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety reports that forward collision warning equipped vehicles show a 27% decrease in crashes. That number becomes 50% when automatic breaking is installed. considering the amount of time an officer is in a vehicle or on the road, this kind of difference adds up significantly over time.

It's always good to see police officers able to do their jobs a little more safely.
