It's been 50 years since Steve McQueen drove a Dark Highland Green '68 Mustang in hot pursuit of a 1968 Dodge Charger in the Iconic movie "Bullitt." Ford is celebrating this with a new Special Edition model of that Mustang, named after the movie. We reported on a rumored modern recreation previously when one was spotted in Chicago.

Known as the 2019 Ford Mustang Bullitt, this powerhouse features a 5.0-liter Coyote V-8 and a 6-speed manual transmission. This gives it 475 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque, allowing it to reach speeds of 163 miles per hour. This is 15 more horsepower, and 8 mph, than a standard Mustang GT.

The Bullitt uses a Shelby GT350's intake manifold, but it also will receive a new open-air induction system, and a new calibration for the powertrain control module.

Based on the Mustang GT's premium package, the Bullitt has six-piston Brembo brakes, a thicker rear sway bar, a larger radiator, a strut tower brace/K-brace, heavy duty front springs, and Torsen differential with a 3.73 gear ratio.

Buyers will have the option of the classic green color or a shadow black. Both choices come with chrome accents, red brake calipers, and the famous Bullitt logo on a false gas cap.

The 2019 Bullitt has 3 package options, the MagneRide magnetorheological dampers, black leather Recaro front seats, and the Bullitt Electronic package. The Electronic Package adds more than just seating improvements, it offers navigation and blind spot monitors, as well.

Expect to see the Ford Bullitt Mustang this summer. Pricing and availability remain unknown. Just try to keep all 4 wheels on the road, and leave the car chases to McQueen.
