For every car, there's a manual. That nifty little book in the glovebox has been a helpful partner to maintenance and repairs with nearly every car I've ever owned. But how much are they really worth? One individual is dropping $6,000 on the car manual for a 1974 Porsche Carrera RSR.

First discovered by Jalopnik, a Bring A Trailer listing for the manual in question finished on Thursday, September 20 at 6:30 PM. After 28 bids, the final winning price was precisely $6,000.

Classic cars are an expensive venture, sure. But of all things to go hard on, why the manual? Only 54 examples of the 3.0-liter RSR were ever built, so the 44-year-old manual certainly has value. But had you asked, I'd have wagered somewhere around the upper hundreds.

A decent, mid-2000 vehicle goes for a price like that! Yet again, if I was this determined to have the original manual to such a rare vehicle, I probably drive something better than a 2006 BMW.
