There's a certain satisfaction to seeing luxury fall flat. Normally this means seeing a man in a Lamborghini getting his ride stuck in wet cement because he can't be bothered to wait for a green light, this time the fault lies with the manufacturer.

Recently the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration announced a recall for 2017 and 2018 model year Bugatti Chirons due to a fault in the seat recliners.

The NHTSA said that about 47 Chirons will be affected overall. The problem is the seat recliners having improperly welded brackets. If these brackets snap, the occupant's sitting position may sharply change. This can very likely cause a vehicle accident.

Bugatti service centers will be doing inspections and replacements of the seat assembly for no charge. The official recall notice will be sent to dealerships (and subsequently the homes of Chiron owners) on December 8.

The number of Chirons built so far hasn't been stated, though estimations point towards "not a lot." Deliveries of the Chiron only began this March, and Bugatti previously stated that they only intend to build 70 a year until they hit 500 units.

No crashes or fatalities relating to the seat problem have been reported by Bugatti so far. Notifications of the recall will be sent to owners on December 11, with the recall itself happening that same day.
