There's a trend of having fake vents on vehicles. By hiding the actual air vents, automakers can prioritize aesthetic over function when designing the vehicle. The 2020 Toyota Supra is a perfect example of this. But this time, you can make the vents work anyway.

According to the Supra's lead engineer, Tetsuya Tada, the plastic vents, which by default do not function, were the result of a Supra race car design that was left over when developing a production car. A racing variant was produced halfway through development, and it would end up influencing the production car's final design.

Tada stated that the false vents can come off very easily, and the vehicle is practically ready for race conversion should the owner want to focus on airflow and cooling. The owner will still need to fit the vents with proper ducts for the benefits of having an effect, but the rest of the structure is already there.

Fake vents may seem like an unnecessary. But who are we to complain about easy modding?
