Uber seemingly wants to tackle every potential transportation venture that has yet to be fully capitalized. The ride-hailing service is looking to expand production for flying taxis in France, investing $23.4 million in the country over the next five years.

According to a report by CNN, the money is being put toward "flying taxis." Uber also announced a five-year research partnership with Ecole Polytechnique, a leading French Institute of technology, presumably in relation to this idea.

The company is also opening up a new research and development center in Paris, which will be Uber's first location outside of North America.

When premiering the flying prototype, Uber claims that the production vehicle will be able to elevate up to 2,000 feet into the air. The flying rides would travel via predetermined routes, shuttling passengers from location to location. It was also stated that they will be piloted manually by Uber pilots until the autonomous technology becomes achievable.

WIth a launch goal of 2023, expect a pricing zone comparable to Uber Black.
