In a surprisingly firm decision, the Philippine government has decided to destroy 100 luxury cars in order to send a message to local smugglers.

Cagayan Economic Zone Authority (CEZA) administrator, Raul Lambino, stated that they have all of the proper regulations to perform the vehicular decimation.

"The President is very clear in his instructions and directives that we should follow the rule so if they violate, let's apply the most extreme remedy or penalty. And the decision of the government is to destroy these cars,"

In 2013, the government has seized 900 different cars through the CEZA due to the importation of these vehicles being prohibited. These vehicles have been kept in a warehouse in Santa Ana since then and consist of such high-class rides like BMWs, Mercedez Benzes, and Lamborghinis.

The value of these vehicles remains unknown, according to Lambino.

"...Some of the experts, they're saying that whoever the owners that tried to smuggled these cars into the country may have the knowledge of how much of these cars are really worth,"

The idea of auctioning these vehicles off for the government's benefit have been dismissed. They believe that the destruction of these vehicles will send a stronger message to smugglers that they do not tolerate illegal activities.

"If you're going to deliver a strong message that this government is serious in fighting corruption, smuggling and other illegal activities, that will either be more profitable. The benefit the entire nation could get would not be quantified by the worth of these cars,"

Hardcore, for sure. Though if you're smuggling a vehicle into the country, odds are what happens when the vehicle is seized is irrelevant to them, since they aren't getting it back.
