Porsche has seen another new record at Nürburgring, this time with their modified Porsche 911 GT2 RS MR.

The automaker may not be the overall king of speed, but they can still hold their own. Their 911 GT2 RS MR recently set a new record for the fastest street-legal car at Nürburgring-Nordschleife, clocking in at 6:40.3.

The vehicle features heavy modification from Manthey-Racing. That's where the MR part of its name comes from. The exact modifications made to the vehicle have been kept a secret, most likely to protect their record status. But they did reveal that it's primarily based on a new performance kit by Manthey-Racing.

The record attempt was achieved by driver and development engineer Lars Kern, who spoke about the kit.

"The balance of the car is also very good with the new package. I did not have to take any great risks to be fast."

Now that this has been accomplished, Porsche will undoubtedly start working towards the next record. The question is: which?
