If they're lucky, North Americans will be given access to the next generation of the off-road king, the Ranger Raptor.

Road & Track published a report recently, where they discovered a number of social media profiles from Ford engineers. And according to their findings, we might finally see the Raptor come state-side.

The Raptor, a variant of the Ranger line, was not designed for American markets, a statement Ford made themselves in October. Hermann Salenbauch, vehicle line director at Ford Performance, went on record saying that converting the model to adhere to U.S. regulations was too expensive. This dashed any hopes that local truck enthusiasts had.

As of late, there's been word of project P703, the supposed codename for the next generation of Ford Ranger. According to the social media profiles of certain Ford Engineers known to be working on project P703, they're working on a Ranger Raptor designed for the North American market. Similarly qualified profiles also claim to be working on a "Project Redback," the same name as the global Ranger Raptor.

This is the first scrap of evidence toward a global Ranger Raptor. If we had to guess, it'd release some time in 2022 with an EcoBoost engine. All we can do now is wait and see.
