The Bronco is bucking into the future. Ford had announced that the SUV line will be getting a hybrid edition as soon as next year. The hybrid version was confirmed by Ford CEO Jim Hackett during an annual shareholder meeting.

So far, we know that there will be both a two and a four-door model available, as well as your choice of rear or all-wheel drive. The doors and top will be removable and capable of storage in the cargo hold, making it a fair contender to the Jeep Wrangler.

But that's not what everyone cares about this particular time. Instead of just the standard 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder combustion engine we expect, the vehicle will feature electrification to aid in driving. Details regarding the powertrain haven't been confirmed at this time, though.

In the meantime, Ford continued its efforts toward fully autonomous driving. Their goal is to have level autonomy by 2021.
