A Thai Buddhist monk ended up crashing his friend's sports car after being allowed to take it out for a spin. The car was a modified Nissan Silvia S15 and it had too much kick for the monk to handle. He ended up losing control of the vehicle and wrapped it around a tree. Thapanat Chaiyasut, the 31-year-old monk, was just one day away from leaving the monkhood when he wrecked the vehicle.

Thapanat was visited by a close friend and asked if he could take the car out for a spin. I don't think that this result was what he had in mind. He ended up breaking his arm in the accident and his passenger, Boonyarit Puengchareon, was found unconscious in the vehicle. Police told local media that the car was "too fast for the monk to handle." While also describing the vehicle as being "like the same one from the Fast and Furious movies."

It's a shame that such a nice looking car had to end up this way. Luckily nobody was severely injured in the crash, but the car is in horrible condition. I'm not sure what the rules are in the monkhood, but behavior like this might be frowned upon. As I said, I don't think this was Thapanat's plan, but it's still a very messy situation.
