ABC News recently did an investigation of BMW vehicles. Their reason? Well, it has been reported that BMW cars have been bursting into flames when turned off and parked all over the nation. The weird thing is that it's completely true. ABC News said that their investigation has brought to light over 40 cases in the past 5 years where a BMW car has spontaneously combusted while turned off. The vehicles were not recalled and people want an explanation.

ABC also reported that the vehicles didn't show any patterns. Some vehicles would catch fire a few minutes after being parked, while others would combust after days of no use. In these incidents, BMW owners have lost garages and even houses due to the random flames. The investigation's findings were handed over to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, and while they didn't find any evidence of a safety defect, they are encouraging owners to report any strange incidents or issues.

BMW has looked into the problem themselves and said they can't find a reason for the fires. There have been no patterns linked to quality or component failure either. Keep in mind, these fires can easily be caused by an external issue as well, so it might not be BMW's fault. In a statement, BMW said, "with approximately 4.9 million BMW vehicles on U.S. roads, fire incidents involving BMWs are extremely rare. BMW takes every incident very seriously and has a team dedicated to working with BMW owners, insurance companies and authorities to investigate vehicle fire incidents brought to our attention."
