In a bit of a trouble-in-paradise scenario, GM has issued a recall notice for the 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1. According to the notice, the powerful sports car may have a faulty sensing diagnostic module (SDM).

Chevrolet filed a safety recall report with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. According to the report, extreme braking or acceleration can cause the SDM to enter a "fault state." The SDM will not be able to provide crash-sensing data or deploy airbags in the event of a crash in a fault state. the automaker stated that the SDM will not correct itself into the right state until battery power is removed from the system. The system will show no indication of if the SDM has entered the fault state or not.

This recall seems even more serious, considering how much fun it must be to perform "extreme braking or acceleration" with a ZR1.

An estimated 498 Corvette ZR1a are suspected to have this issue. It's limited to any model built between December 8, 2017, and May 21, 2018. Vehicles after this date include updated software that resolves the issue.

Should your vehicle be one of the affected ones, be sure to bring your vehicle into the local dealership for a software update.
